Portrait commission

Just had to tell someone, I just secured a portrait commission for my asking price! Not that this is something new, but it has been a while since I had a portrait commission and I was beginning to wonder if my prices were too high. I personally don't think so. With all the stress involved in doing a portrait commission (Will they like it? Does it look just like the person? etc, etc.), I think I'm asking a fair price. I've known artists who charge WAY more! Just the time it takes alone is reason enough for the prices I charge. Anyway, I don't feel I need to justify myself, it's just that self doubt creeping in. In any case, I'm very happy about the commission because it's just another sign that the slow sales period for this year is over at last!

I'm still working on the flower spiral abstract painting. Not sure whether I'll be able to finish it today or not. I don't really care, nothing could ruin my good mood now!

Congratulations Paula! That's wonderful news.

My last portrait commission was several years ago it was a water color portrait of a woman's 2 children. I worked so hard on it and stressed when I finally presented it to her for fear she would hate it.

Thanks, Cynthia! I believe that is the hardest part about taking on portrait commissions. I once had a lady that HATED her portrait, and it looked EXACTLY like her! I guess she wanted me to make her look younger or something.
