Surprise of the Week!

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to find that my Etsy shop was featured as shop of the week on the front page of Duke City Fix! DCF is a local news/community website here in Albuquerque, all about the Duke City (Albuquerque's nickname). The same website that had the group show this past Friday at VERB Collective. Spring Griffin is the blogger that wrote the feature, thanks Spring!!

Yay Monday!

After a long weekend of turkey and family, pie and pooping out(all day Sunday on the couch in front of the tv!), it's great to get back into the studio! I had planned to get at least one day of painting in, but of course that didn't happen. Actually, I did get into the studio for about an hour of painting on Saturday, while I waited to meet family for lunch. That doesn't really count though since I was just getting started when I had to stop!

I must say, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Lots of family, food, and football! We actually had the whole family together this year(except my dad, who we saw a week or so ago). I ate way too much, but it was all so yummy! The best part was, we went over to my in laws for dinner, so we didn't have to cook!

I LOVE my job! How many people can say they woke up excited about getting back to work this morning?! Even though Monday is my day to catch up on bookeeping, filing and all around office work, just being in the studio makes me happy!

I'm thinking about issuing some special edition prints for the Holiday season. Not neccessarily holiday art, but limited edition prints that will only be available until the end of the year. I also have many, many notecards to post in my Etsy shop. So keep an eye out for some fun new items in my shop in the next week or so.

Etsy Collaboration

I am excited to announce that I have started a new collaboration with etsy artist Thecharmlady! (www.thecharmlady.etsy.com) Actually, she's doing all the work, I just contributed my images!

She recently contacted me about putting my art onto her pendants and wham, bam, a day later there are 5 great looking art pendants in her etsy shop! She even gave me my own section! So, check out the link below to see my art pendants! Also, don't forget, I have these images up for sale in my etsy shop! She is selling the pendants in her shop and giving me a percentage of sales! Isn't that cool?!

I'm busy getting frames together for the new booth on Fourth Street and preparing for the new Neighborhood Market that starts in Downtown Albuquerque on May 12th. If you are in the area, come check it out! You can also find out more about the Market on their website: http://www.theneighborhoodmarket.com/ I am planning to do a feature on the market as soon as I can get around to interviewing the founder, Susana Lucero. Never seems to be enough time in the day!!!

Actually, I have a backlog of people to interview for features on the blog. I haven't forgotten about all you wonderful artists, I will be in touch soon!

Final Portrait

Here it is, the final portrait! The client has seen it, approved it, picked the frame and I am almost done getting it ready to go! Everyone was right, btw, he loved it!

Today I'm working on cutting mats and cleaning house. My brother and his wife are coming up from Las Cruces to visit, so everyone will be at our house for dinner tonight. I'm making beef stew in the crock pot, so I can still get my work done during the day.

I'm really excited about finishing the portrait and mats because that means I can get back to working on MY art! I am going to get back to my flower spiral abstract series, as I have a gallery show in December to get ready for. I will let you know more about that as I know. What I know so far is the gallery is in Gallup, New Mexico and it is a new gallery for me. The owner saw my work at the state fair in September and invited me to show in his grand reopening in December. They are moving into a new building at the moment. Once I get more info I will post more.

Not much else exciting happening. Holiday season is upon us and I am in a rush to get everything together. I have lots of new things to post in my etsy shop, hopefully they have worked out all the bugs for the new V2 by the time I get around to listing everything.

Anyway, I'd better get back to work, hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
